One day, one of my students asked me if i know how something about overclocking. It was definitely my first time in stumbling upon that word. So i did a research on the internet hoping to know what it is. It caught my attention because my student mentioned that it is done to improve the speed of a computer. Here is what i have learned.

Overclocking is the process of running a computer component at a higher clock rate than it was designed for or was specified by the manufacturer. This practice is usually done by computer-geeks seeking an increase in the performance of their computers. Some of them purchase low-end computer components which they then overclock to higher speeds, or overclock high-end components to attain levels of performance beyond the specified values. Knowing the fact that many computers now require new system requirements due to their power and speed overclocking become famous. With the boost in power and speed that overclocking can offer many of today's computer professionals are studying the process on how to do overclocking.

Here are some of the advantages of overclocking

1. You can buy inexpensive computer components and overclock it for a much greater performance.

2. increase in performance in almost everything that you usually do in your computer like gaming and video editing.

3. you can gain useful knowledge and hands-on experience about your system and PC systems in general.

Disadvantages:

1. increase in electrical power consumption

2. mistakes in overclocking can permanently destroy your new computer component.

3. if not properly set, it will lead to problems in system stability.

I really do hope that someday i would learn how to do overclocking, not really to make my computer a lot more faster but to the fact that i will surely learn a lot in the process of making such changes in a computer component.
